Doane College

As the history of Doane College, college was established in 1857, when of the General Federation of Congregational Churches, in its premier annual meeting in Fremont, Nebraska; conclude to lay the authority of a literary foundation of a high order in the state. After compilation of fourteen years, and after facing several unsuccessful attempts to inaugurate Congregational schools beyond the state, an academy was established in Crete on May 22, 1871. The hard work and effort of Frederick Francis Alley, the regional Congregational pastor, and Thomas Doane, chief civil engineer of the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad, were involved in accelerating the idea of the Academy. Doane College acquired the old Crete Academy on July 11, 1872. In Nebraska, Doane College is the prim liberal arts and Science College.                                 College sports teams, name the tigers, are section of the national association of intercollegiate athletics, generally competing in the Great Plains athletic conference. The first football coach at Doane was F.P. Reed who force the team to 1-1 record .college football group has participated on three bowl games and win two, tying in the third. In 1950 bean bowl defeated Colorado state college by 14-6 score. Then in 1967 and 1968 Doane had back to back appearances in the mineral water bowl. Doane College was named to the Princeton review best Midwestern colleges. The classification was given to 161 Midwest College involving six from Nebraska. Doane College established among the top 25 liberal arts schools national wide in the least debt rankings freed in the September 17, 2007 us.
